DarkVision Sponsors Girls in Tech Hackathon
DarkVision is a proud sponsor of the first-ever Girls in Tech Hackathon in Vancouver, that took place on February 10th, 2018. The winning team, PicTalk, received the top prize of $2,500 for the most innovative solution. The team of four developed a browser plugin that leveraged a machine learning convolutional neural network to identify and describe objects in photos for the visually impaired. Congrats PicTalk!

DarkVision Becomes Lead Sponsor for UBC Rocket Team
DarkVision replaces Lockheed Martin as the lead sponsor for UBC’s now world-renowned Rocket Team. In 2017, the team made its first appearance at the Spaceport American Cup in New Mexico and won 1st prize in the competition, beating 115 rival teams from top universities including MIT and the University of Michigan. DarkVision had the honor of naming the team’s new testing platform for 2018, now officially named DARKSTAR (Data Acquisition Rig for Kilonewton Static Testing and Acceptance of Rocket engines).
DarkVision Named Outstanding Employer in Canada
DarkVision was named to Canada’s Outstanding Employers list for its engagement with youth in entrepreneurship, technology and engineering. 14 other companies were named to the list as winners for 2016. Current and past winners have included Samsung, MDA, Nexen, CBC and Bell.
Premier Christy Clark Visits DarkVision
DarkVision was proud to host BC’s Premier, Christy Clark, in January 2017 for a live demonstration of its downhole imaging technology. The announcement included the appointment of Dr. Santa Ono, UBC’s President, to the Premier’s technology council. Also attending were a number of honorable guests, including Jane Thornthwaite, MLA of North Vancouver.

DarkVision Technologies announced today that is has received a contribution of $3m from SDTC to support the field deployment of its new downhole imaging technology.
