Objectives
An operator needed to log a storage well as part of their regulated inspection schedule. They decided to use DarkVision to get a high-resolution baseline with a fast turnaround.
DarkVision performed a high-resolution well integrity scan and provided a preliminary report within 24 hours, with DarkVision’s RAID (Rapid Asset Integrity Deliverable).
The scan identified a pinhole breach (0.43”) directly below the liner shoe. The pinhole breach was located in an area of general internal damage. By analyzing DarkVision’s report, the operator determined the damage was likely due to milling damage during a prior drill-out.
Results
Because the report was provided within 24 hours, the operator received the information in a timeline that would allow them to make a decision prior to rerunning tubing, avoiding unnecessary workover costs and reducing NPT.
By running DarkVision, instead of a low-resolution legacy tool, the operator was able to find the pinhole breach and understand the root cause of the damage, providing confidence in a reliable inspection and a high-quality baseline moving forward.
